Community Meeting on SE Fort Worth Rail Feasibility Study Results Nov. 17

FORT WORTH, Texas (November 4, 2011) –  The T will present findings from the Southeast Fort Worth Rail Feasibility Study at a final community meeting on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University at the Sid Richardson/Brown Lupton Center, 1201 Wesleyan Street (MAPSCO 78K).

During the meeting, rail consultant R. L. Banks and Associates will report the results of the feasibility study.

Over the last several months, R. L. Banks and Associates performed a technical evaluation of the physical, operational and financial feasibility of passenger rail service in Southeast Fort Worth.  In addition to the technical evaluation, input was gathered from citizens through online and paper surveys, person-on-the street interviews and community meetings.

“The T is committed to meeting the growing needs of our ridership and is exploring all available transportation options,” said Dick Ruddell, president of The T. “This study has helped us to identify the needs and priorities of the residents and businesses in Southeast Fort Worth.”
Future passenger rail service in Southeast Fort Worth was identified as a priority in The T’s strategic plan and is a part of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) 2035 Mobility Transportation Plan.

The feasibility study was the first step in the transportation planning process for this area. For more information on the study or to access information from past meetings, contact The T at 817-215-8600 or visit www.the-t.com.
