The T’s first fare increase in four years takes effect October 1
* Added service and schedule improvements also begin Sept. 30 for buses, Oct. 1 for TRE
FORT WORTH (September 19, 2007) The Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) will put new fares into effect on October 1 and make changes to some routes and schedules to improve or add service, starting September 30 for buses and October 1 for the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).
TRE changes will enable riders departing from Tarrant County to take the earliest and latest weekday eastbound trains across the full nicorridor instead of starting or ending at Centreport/DFW Airport Station. The last Saturday departure from Fort Worth to Dallas is later, and all Saturday trains will stop at Victory Station.
Information on fare and schedule changes will be available on T buses and on the TRE. Bus and TRE schedules also are available on The T’s website at www.the-t.com or through The T’s Customer Service at 817-215-8600.
* Increase of 25 cents in base fares is first in four years.
The fare increase of 25 cents in base fares for local and premium tickets is the first since 2003. The new fares are expected to generate additional revenue of $400,000 to help offset rising operating costs and cover further expansion of T bus services.
* The local base single-ride fare for all T fixed-route, express buses and TRE to Centreport/DFW Airport Station will increase from $1.25 to $1.50.
* The local Day Pass fare will increase from $2.50 to $3. This covers all fixed route bus, express bus and the Trinity Railway Express in Tarrant County as far as Centreport/DFW Airport Station.
* The premium service single-ride fare for TRE service all the way to Dallas Union Station will increase from $2.25 to $2.50.
*The premium Day Pass for T buses, TRE and DART bus and light rail service will increase from $4.50 to $5.
*The Mobility Impaired Services single trip fare will increase from $2.50 to $2.75.
* Reduced fares for seniors, disabled and students will be set at one-half of the new base fare, an increase from .50 cents to .75 cents for a reduced single-ride ticket and an increase from $1 to $1.50 for a reduced Day Pass.
* A new local weekly pass for seven days of unlimited rides will be $15 and $7.50 for the reduced fare.
* Monthly passes will increase by $10 to $50 for local, $80 for premium and $25 for reduced.
* Service additions, schedule changes improve connections for T customers.
The T will extend service or make schedule changes to seven bus routes and four TRE trains in response to growing ridership and to improve bus and train connections.
Bus Route and Schedule Changes:
* Route 1 (North Main) - Route 1 D replaces Route 1A on Sunday to serve the Flea Market on Henderson for better on-time performance.
* Route 6 (8th Avenue/McCart) - Schedule change of last outbound trip for timely match with transfers to and from Route 25.
* Route 7 (University) - Extend route to serve the Westcliff Manor Apartments and add a later 11:15 p.m. trip from the ITC Thursdays through Saturdays.
* Route 21 (Boca Raton) Add timepoint at John T. White and Cooks Lane for transfers to and from Route 21
* Route 23 (Mercantile) Adjust schedule at Northside Transfer Center to better meet transfers to Route 1.
* Route 46 (Jacksboro Hwy) - Extend route to serve the Landmark Lakes retail center northwest of Loop 820.
TRE Service Changes:
* The first weekday morning eastbound train to Dallas will depart Fort Worth T&P Station at 4:55 a.m. instead of from CentrePort/DFW Airport Station at 5:29 a.m.
* The last weekday evening train departing Fort Worth will be extended into Dallas instead of terminating at Centreport/DFW Airport Station. That train will leave T&P Station at 10:32 p.m.
* The last Saturday evening train from Fort Worth will depart T&P Station at 10:30 rather than 9:55 p.m.
* All Saturday TRE trains will stop at Victory Station beginning October 6.
These changes will result in minor timetable changes for most TRE trains. Customers should pick up new TRE schedules onboard TRE trains, at the Customer Service desks at the Intermodal Transportation Center or The T’s headquarters on East Lancaster.
