T ADDS PUBLIC HEARING ON FARES FOR CONVENIENCE OF MITS RIDERS
* Extra hearing on June 13 to focus on fares of Mobility Impaired Transit Services
WHAT
The Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) will hold an additional public hearing on Wednesday, June 13 to receive comments regarding The T’s proposed fare increases from citizens who use Mobility Impaired Transit Services (MITS). The T has proposed increases of 25 cents per single ride in basic fares for The T’s bus, MITS and Trinity Railway Express services. The proposed fare increases would take effect October 1, 2007 if approved by The T’s board of directors. The special MITS hearing follows four public hearings held on May 29 for all citizens, including MITS. Residents who are unable to attend public hearings are encouraged to provide comments through The T’s recorded Comment Hotline at 817-215-8669 or The T’s website at www.the-t.com.
WHY
The T has added another hearing to provide extra convenience for MITS customers who wish to participate. Public comments are extremely important, as they will be incorporated into the final fare structure proposal that The T will submit to its board of directors for their consideration at their regular monthly meeting on June 21. The T’s last fare increase was in 2003.
