The T to operate weekend park & ride bus shuttle to Stock Show
Chesapeake Energy sponsors free rides for the public FORT WORTH, TX (Jan. 8, 2008) The T will operate a shuttle service to take weekend visitors to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo from two convenient park and ride locations. The public can ride free courtesy of Chesapeake Energy. The T will run the special free shuttle bus to Will Rogers Coliseum every 30 minutes from the park and ride lots located at Ridgmar Mall on the west side, and Billy Bob’s Texas on the north side, on Saturday and Sunday during the stock show and rodeo, Jan. 12 through Feb. 3. Chesapeake Energy, the largest independent producer of natural gas and #1 driller in Texas, sponsored the free rides for the public. “Since The T runs their entire bus fleet on natural gas, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to partner with them and provide a much-needed service to the community,” said Jerri Robbins, Public Relations Manager for Chesapeake. “It certainly eliminates the frustration of finding a parking place and is an environmentally friendlier mode of transportation.” The T’s Stock Show shuttle buses will pick up riders from the park and ride lots from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Jan. 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 and Feb. 2 and 3. At Ridgmar Mall, the bus stop is on the mall’s service road near Macy’s. At Billy Bob’s, buses will enter the parking lot from 27th Street and pick up passengers at the north end of the lot. Ridgmar Mall The shuttle will pick up passengers from Ridgmar Mall starting at 10 a.m. and run every 30 minutes until 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. It is a 15-minute trip to the Stock Show’s Will Rogers Center, and the last shuttle will arrive back at the Ridgmar lot at 7:30 p.m. Billy Bob’s The shuttle will pick up passengers from Billy Bob’s starting at 10 a.m. and run every 20 minutes until 6:40 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. It is a 15-minute trip to the Stock Show’s Will Rogers Center, and the last shuttle will arrive back at the Billy Bob’s lot at 7:20 p.m. Arriving by train - ITC Arriving TRE passengers should get off at the ITC and board either Route 2 Camp Bowie or Route 7 University/Montgomery to Will Rogers Center. The TRE day pass ticket is good for a same-day free bus ride to and from the Stock Show’s Will Rogers Center, which takes approximately 15 minutes each way. TRE - For Trinity Railway Express passengers, The T’s Route 2 and Route 7 buses will provide regular route service, Monday through Saturday, between the Intermodal Transportation Center and Will Rogers. These buses leave the ITC every 15 minutes Monday through Friday and every 30 minutes on Saturday. The regular route bus trip to and from Will Rogers Center takes about 15 minutes each way and will be free of charge to passengers boarding with a same-day TRE day pass ticket. For departing TRE riders, the latest bus --a Route 2-- that arrives at the ITC in time for a weekday train connection to Dallas leaves the Will Rogers Center area at 10 p.m. for the 10:36 p.m. eastbound train. On Saturdays, the Route 2 bus that leaves the Will Rogers Center area at 10 p.m. arrives at the ITC prior to the last eastbound TRE train departing at 10:35 p.m. Check schedules for specific daily times for TRE and Route 2 Camp Bowie and Route 7 - University/Montgomery buses to and from Will Rogers Center and the ITC For more information about bus shuttles, TRE or other information about The T’s system and schedules, call Customer Service at (817) 215-8600.
