(Note: A list of exhibit locations at end of this release.)

FORT WORTH, (September 4, 2007) – The Fort Worth Transportation Authority will host three rail station planning public roundtables September 17 and 18 in Fort Worth to help identify station locations and develop station designs for The T’s proposed new commuter railroad.

The proposed route follows existing rail lines, and extends from southwest Fort Worth, through downtown Fort Worth, northeast to Grapevine, and into the north entrance of DFW airport.

Anyone interested is invited to attend one or all of the following rail station planning public roundtables. Reservations are not required.

Monday, September 17, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. (MAPSCO 90N)
Texas Department of Transportation Regional Training Center, 2501 SW Loop 820 (McCart Avenue, south of I-20) Fort Worth 76133

Tuesday, September 18, 12 noon - 1:30 p.m. (MAPSCO 77A)
Intermodal Transportation Center, 1001 Jones St., Fort Worth 76102

Tuesday, September 18, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. (MAPSCO 49R)
Campfire USA First Texas Council, 2700 Meacham Blvd., Fort Worth 76137

The T has expanded public information outreach about the new rail project and proposed station locations in advance of the public roundtables. Nineteen exhibit displays have been placed in libraries, community centers and other locations throughout the project area and beyond to increase awareness and to gather public comments.

Public input is a key facet of the ongoing effort to develop public transportation to serve Tarrant County's southwest-to-northeast corridor. The Southwest-to-Northeast Rail Corridor website, at www.sw2neRAIL.com, has been updated with information about proposed station location areas.

Public involvement to help determine proposed station locations and designs is necessary for completing The T's environmental review of the new passenger railroad route.

The environmental review process will document existing natural, social, cultural, historical and archaeological conditions along the proposed rail line route and selected station sites.  The review will assess the impacts of the proposed project on those environments and propose actions to avoid, minimize or mitigate any potential impacts.

All meeting facilities are wheelchair accessible. For hearing or sight interpretive services, please contact The T's Human Resources Department at 817-215-8621, 48 hours in advance of the meetings.

For more information or to make a comment about the Southwest-to-Northeast Rail Corridor project, call the project hotline at 817-215-8785, send e-mail to info@sw2neRAIL.com or visit www.sw2neRAIL.com.
