T seeks public input to narrow proposed final sites for commuter rail stations
Final proposed station locations would begin environmental review in late Nov.
FORT WORTH, (October 22, 2007) – The T will host a public meeting on Nov. 14 in Grapevine and two on Nov. 15 in Fort Worth to seek public comments on rail station locations proposed as finalists to undergo an environmental study for a new 40-mile commuter rail line in Tarrant County.

Previous public meetings, input and technical evaluations helped narrow the number of rail station locations and concepts to be presented at the November public meetings. Following the final selection of proposed rail station sites at the end of November, The T will begin environmental studies and documentation to meet criteria for a federally-required environmental review.

The proposed stations would become part of the Southwest-to-Northeast commuter rail corridor from southwest Fort Worth, through downtown, northeast across Tarrant County to Grapevine, and into the north entrance of DFW airport.

At the November public meetings, The T also will provide an update on the environmental team’s work to-date. This will include information about the existing environmental conditions along the existing rail line corridor in the areas between the proposed stations.

Seventeen meetings have occurred over the past four months about proposed rail stations for The T’s Southwest-to-Northeast Rail Corridor.  Participants in meetings have included staff from cities along the route, members of the project Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Community Resource Council (CRC), people interested in station development, representatives of neighborhood associations, and the general public.  Proposed station concepts have been posted to the project website at sw2neRAIL.com, and upcoming public meetings will continue the dialogue about the proposed rail stations.
